Sky signature is the base television package service for Sky Q including the 300+ Sky Entertainment channels and 500+ Sky box sets. The Sky Signature service is delivered to your TV using a satellite dish which is installed by Sky. Sky Stream is slowly becoming the preferred way to watch Sky TV with Sky Entertainment with Netflix also known as Sky Ultimate TV available on 30 day rolling contracts and HD as standard at around £19 a month. Sky Stream completely removes any need for a satellite dish to be installed.
Let’s look at what Sky Signature has to offer and if it’s still considered to be one of the best household entertainment options on the market.
If you opt for Sky Signature, you have three options, install a Sky satellite on your house to have Sky TV beamed directly to your home (this is only going to be available to those who do not have 25MB broadband or faster), pick up a Sky Glass TV which has everything integrated into the TV or the third option, get Sky Stream which is a small Amazon Firestick type box.
With each option above you will get 300+ channels, 150 which aren’t accessible over Freeview, 500+ box sets to watch and all of this is available on-demand. To include Netflix, you will need to select the Sky Ultimate TV option, this saves you £6.99 a month, the cost of the Netflix subscription. You will be able to watch this from your Sky Q box.

Sky Signature includes Sky Entertainment, Sky box sets and Sky Q mini boxes. The box sets were offered previously as an add-on feature to Sky Entertainment. Sky Q is available with a satellite dish or without if you purchase Sky Glass or Sky Stream. If you go for Sky Q mini boxes, you will need to have a satellite installed.
Sky Signature includes over 300 live TV channels and over 500 box sets. 150 of the 300 channels are not available on Freeview. There are an additional 60 dedicated TV channels with Sky Signature. You can watch on-demand which allows you to pause, rewind, restart or even record your TV and you can store up to 500 hours of TV shows. Other functions include series link and split screen. On top of this, if you go for Sky Q, you will be sent a Sky Q Mini Box (2 if you mention you would like an extra one or if you select Multiscreen). You will get access to Sky Go allowing you to stream Sky TV from your tablet, laptop and mobile phone while you are on the go.
Sky signature price will depend on the service package you choose:
Sky Signature with Sky Q, Sky TV and Netflix is £31 a month for 18 months with a £20 set-up one-off cost.
Sky Glass is £14 for the 43 inch, £19 for the 55 inch and £24 for the 65 inch a month with a £10 set-up cost.
Sky Signature with Sky Stream is the best and cheapest option at £19 a month without set-up cost.
There are plenty of add-ons that you can purchase to tailor your Sky Entertainment set-up. The prices vary regularly but these prices are accurate when this was written:
- Netflix – Basic, Free to add, saving £6.99. Standard £4 a month, Premium £8 a month. Netflix is the perfect addition to Sky Entertainment system, it compliments the full package of entertainment that Sky Signature already offers.
- HD & Ultra HD – £6 a month. This comes as standard with the Sky Stream and Sky Glass options. HD will upgrade your Netflix package as well.
- Sky Kids – £6 a month. For families with children, Sky Kids is an essential addition to ensuring a peaceful household.
- Sky Cinema – £13 a month. There are an extra 12 channels available with Sky Cinema and Paramount+ is included for free.
- Sky Multiscreen – £15 a month. An extra Sky Q Mini box will extend your full set of Sky functions across your house. You can pause in one room and continue watching in another or watch completely different channels and shows in different rooms.
- Sky Sports – £27 a month. Football lovers will get access to all the best matches, including Sky Sports Premier League.
- BT Sport – £30 a month. The BT Sport add-on let’s you watch the BT sports that may not be available on Sky Sports
For those looking for a complete home entertainment service, Sky Signature is by far one of the best options on the market. Sky Box Set package is the full on-demand library of Sky’s TV series box sets which is over 500 different series. This includes UK and US hit shows. It comes as part of the Sky Signature package. Sky Box Set Package is separate from Sky TV/Sky Entertainment so you must get Sky Signature to have this included. The box sets are only accessibly on the on-demand side of the service, similar to a streaming service. The Sky Box Set package includes; drama, comedy, documentaries, Sky only content and much more.
