Affiliate Disclosure
How Switchking earns money from selected commercial links
Switchking independently researches and compares UK broadband, television and mobile services.
Some links on this website are affiliate links. If you follow one of those links and complete a qualifying purchase or another eligible action, Switchking may receive a commission.
Switchking may earn commission from selected links without increasing the price you pay. A commercial relationship does not guarantee positive coverage, a recommendation or inclusion within a comparison.
No extra charge
Using an affiliate link does not normally increase the price charged by the provider.
Editorial independence
Providers and affiliate networks do not receive control over our conclusions or recommendations.
Visible disclosure
We aim to identify commercial relationships clearly wherever affiliate links appear.
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link is a commercial link containing information that allows a provider or affiliate network to identify the website or placement that generated a visit, application, sale or another eligible action.
When a reader follows an affiliate link from Switchking, the provider or affiliate network may record that referral. If the reader subsequently completes a qualifying action, Switchking may receive a commission.
You follow a link
You select a commercial link or button on a Switchking page.
The referral is recorded
The provider or affiliate network may use tracking information to identify Switchking as the referring website.
Switchking may earn commission
If you complete an eligible purchase or action, Switchking may receive a payment.
How affiliate commission supports Switchking
Affiliate income helps fund the operation and continued development of Switchking, including:
- Researching broadband, television and mobile services
- Reviewing provider prices and contractual information
- Producing comparisons, reviews and switching guides
- Updating existing articles when products change
- Website hosting, security and technical maintenance
- Developing new comparison tools and consumer resources
Switchking does not charge readers to access its articles and comparisons.
How much commission does Switchking receive?
The amount and structure of commission can differ between providers, products and affiliate programmes.
| Possible arrangement | How it can work |
|---|---|
| Completed purchase | A fixed payment or percentage may be earned when a reader completes an eligible order. |
| Qualified application or lead | A payment may be earned when a reader submits an eligible application or enquiry. |
| Confirmed activation | Commission may only become payable after a broadband, TV or mobile service has been activated. |
| No qualifying action | Switchking may receive no payment when a reader visits a provider without completing the required action. |
| Cancellation or return | A previously recorded commission may be declined or reversed if an order is cancelled, rejected or returned. |
Commission rates can change and are normally agreed between the provider, affiliate network and publisher. They do not represent an additional charge placed on the customer by Switchking.
Does commission affect our recommendations?
Commercial relationships can determine whether Switchking is able to earn money from a particular link. They do not determine the conclusion of an article.
We can recommend cheaper options
We may recommend a lower-priced package when additional speed or features are unlikely to provide worthwhile value.
We discuss drawbacks
Commercially linked products can still receive criticism concerning price, contract terms, availability, equipment or service limitations.
We can include non-affiliated providers
A provider does not need to pay Switchking to be mentioned where its service is relevant to the comparison.
Payment does not guarantee coverage
A commercial relationship does not guarantee inclusion, favourable placement or a positive recommendation.
Our comparisons may not cover every available UK provider or package. Availability, editorial scope, product relevance and access to reliable information can all affect which services are included.
How we identify affiliate content
Relevant Switchking articles include an editorial or commercial disclosure explaining that commission may be received from selected links.
Commercial buttons and links may use wording such as:
- Check availability
- View deal
- See current packages
- Check your postcode
- Visit provider
- Compare current offers
The wording of a button describes the action it performs. It does not mean the link is non-commercial.
Example article disclosure
Switchking redirect links and tracking parameters
Some commercial links may pass through a Switchking address beginning with /go/ before sending the reader to the provider's website.
This redirect system allows Switchking to maintain destinations consistently and identify which article or link placement generated a visit. Commercial links may also contain campaign or placement parameters.
The redirect does not change the provider's advertised price. The destination website is responsible for its own offers, checkout process, privacy practices and contractual information.
Cookies and affiliate attribution
After a reader follows an affiliate link, the provider or affiliate network may use cookies, local storage or another attribution method to record the referral.
The length of the attribution period and the technology used can vary between programmes. A later qualifying purchase may still be attributed to Switchking where the applicable programme rules permit it.
Readers can learn more about cookies used on this website in our Cookie Policy and about the handling of personal information in our Privacy Policy.
Prices, availability and contracts
Switchking does not sell broadband, television or mobile services directly.
Prices, promotional offers, availability, equipment and contract terms can change after an article is published. They may also differ by postcode, customer status, network coverage and the route used to reach a provider.
The provider's checkout, order summary and contractual documents contain the definitive information for a purchase. Readers should check:
- The opening monthly price
- Scheduled or permitted price changes
- The minimum contract term
- Setup, activation, delivery and installation charges
- Estimated and guaranteed speeds
- Equipment supplied
- Cancellation and cooling-off rights
- The price that applies after the initial term
