Virgin Media's fastest package is not currently its best deal
Virgin Media's broadband deals currently run from M125 at 132Mbps all the way to 2Gbps Gig2, but the pricing ladder is anything but predictable.
At the time of checking, M500 is cheaper than M350, while Gig1 costs only £2 a month more than M500.
Virgin says discounted pricing can vary by location, so the deal shown to your address is the one that matters.
Virgin Media broadband deals: August 2026
These are the national broadband-only headline prices Virgin Media was publishing when we checked on 17 August 2026.
All six featured offers are aimed at new customers and use a 24-month minimum term. Virgin also states that discounted pricing can be offered in selected locations, so your postcode can produce a different result.

The Virgin Media broadband deals we'd shortlist first
M125
£23.99/month132Mbps is already fast enough for streaming, working from home, gaming and normal family internet use.
Choose M125 if keeping the monthly cost down matters more than shaving seconds from huge downloads.
Check M125M500
£27.99/month516Mbps for less than the current M350 headline price makes M500 the strange but compelling value winner.
For only £4 more than M125, this is a huge increase in raw download capacity.
Check M500Gig1
£29.99/monthGig1 currently costs only £2 more than M500 while increasing the average download speed to around 1.1Gbps.
That does not mean every household needs it, but the current incremental price is unusually small.
Check Gig1Gig2
£49.99/month2Gbps makes sense for advanced homes and power users who can actually exploit multi-gigabit capacity.
It is not the obvious value choice when Gig1 is currently £20 cheaper.
Check Gig2Why M500 and Gig1 currently stand out
Broadband providers often price packages so that moving up one speed tier requires a noticeable increase in monthly cost.
Virgin's current offer does not behave that way.
M125 to M250 costs another £2 per month.
M250 to M350 adds £3.
Then something unusual happens: M500 is currently £1 cheaper than M350.
Gig1 then adds only £2 to M500.
For someone already comfortable spending around £28–£30 a month, the decision therefore becomes less about affordability and much more about whether their address and equipment can make meaningful use of the faster tier.
Virgin Media M125 deal
M125 currently costs £23.99 a month on the headline 24-month offer and provides an average download speed of 132Mbps.
For most ordinary internet activity, that is plenty.
Several people can browse, stream and use video calls without needing a gigabit connection simply because Virgin sells one.
M125 is therefore the sensible choice when you want Virgin's network but are primarily trying to minimise the bill.
Who should buy M125?
- Couples and smaller families
- Moderate streaming households
- Normal home working
- Casual and regular gamers
- People prioritising price over download time
Virgin Media M250 deal
M250 currently costs £25.99 a month, only £2 more than M125.
Its 264Mbps average download speed doubles the approximate capacity for a very small monthly increase.
If you have several regular users and plan to keep the service for the full minimum term, M250 can therefore be an easy upgrade to justify.
It is also worth checking Volt before ordering, because eligible Virgin/O2 households can receive a broadband speed boost to the next available level up to 1Gbps.
Virgin Media M350 deal
M350 is currently the awkward package in the range.
It provides an average 362Mbps download speed but is advertised at £28.99 per month.
That would ordinarily be a perfectly reasonable mid-to-high-speed option.
The problem is M500.
At the time of checking, M500 is £27.99 — £1 cheaper while delivering substantially more bandwidth.
Virgin Media M500 deal
M500 is the standout current Virgin deal for us.
It provides an average download speed of 516Mbps for £27.99 a month on the published 24-month new-customer offer.
That is cheaper than M350 and only £4 a month above M125.
M500 also sits in a useful real-world position.
It is extremely fast without forcing a household into the more specialised multi-gigabit discussion that comes with Gig2.
Large game downloads are fast, several heavy users have abundant shared capacity and it is already far beyond what streaming alone requires.
Check whether the £27.99 headline offer is available to your postcode before ordering.
Virgin Media Gig1 deal
Gig1 is currently advertised at £29.99 a month with an average download speed of approximately 1,136Mbps.
That makes the jump from M500 to Gig1 particularly interesting.
You are roughly doubling the download capacity for only another £2 each month under the current headline prices.
Most homes do not need gigabit broadband, but this is one of those cases where the pricing itself can make over-provisioning relatively inexpensive.
Gig1 makes most sense when:
- Large game downloads are common
- Several heavy users share the connection
- You routinely download large work or media files
- The additional £2 over M500 is not important to the budget
- You plan to make good use of WiFi Max, which is included on Gig1

Virgin Media Gig2 deal
Gig2 is different.
Virgin currently advertises the 2Gbps Full Fibre package at £49.99 a month.
That is £20 more than Gig1.
The difference is therefore large enough that we would want an actual reason to buy Gig2.
For an advanced home with multi-gigabit networking, enormous concurrent demand or professional workloads, it can be genuinely valuable.
For someone mainly streaming Netflix, browsing and gaming, the jump is much harder to justify.
What happens to these prices each April?
The headline price is not fixed for the entire 24-month contract.
For customers joining or renewing after 2 October 2025, Virgin states that applicable main service charges generally increase by a fixed £4 every April.
So a customer joining in August 2026 can potentially experience both the April 2027 and April 2028 increases before the 24-month minimum term ends.
Example: M500 at today's £27.99 starting price
Current headline monthly offer.
After one £4 increase, assuming the standard rule applies.
After a second £4 increase, assuming it falls within your agreement.
The same logic applies to the other main services.
Virgin's current £300 switching credit
Virgin currently has a particularly useful promotion for people who are still inside another provider's minimum term.
Eligible new switching customers can claim credit towards early termination fees charged by their previous broadband provider, up to a maximum of £300.
The current published offer ends on 20 September 2026.
Virgin requires a qualifying final bill and the claim has to follow its published process and deadlines.
Check Virgin's current switching-credit terms before paying the cancellation charge yourself.
Are there setup or installation charges?
Virgin currently says there is no mandatory setup or activation fee on its home broadband deals.
If your property qualifies for Virgin's QuickStart self-installation kit, you can install the equipment yourself without a setup charge.
If QuickStart is available but you instead choose an engineer installation, Virgin currently charges £30.
QuickStart is not available for every property or network type, so check the installation option shown during ordering.
Do the faster Virgin deals include extra benefits?
The attraction of M500 and Gig1 is not only speed.
Virgin's current broadband marketing says selected M500 and Gig1 broadband-only offers include Netflix Standard with Ads at no additional cost.
Gig1 also includes WiFi Max, as does Gig2.
These benefits can improve the value calculation if you would otherwise pay separately for them.
But never choose a materially more expensive broadband package merely to obtain a streaming subscription worth much less than the broadband upgrade.
Does Virgin Media offer broadband without a 24-month contract?
Yes.
Virgin offers 30-day rolling broadband for customers who value flexibility more than the cheapest possible monthly price.
The current rolling range includes M125, M250, M350 and M500.
Gig1 and Gig2 are not currently part of the normal 30-day rolling range.
Virgin also states there are no early-exit fees on the rolling product; cancellation operates with 30 days' notice.
Choose 24 months when...
You expect to remain at the property, want the strongest promotional price and are comfortable with the commitment.
Usually cheapest monthlyChoose 30 days when...
You are renting temporarily, moving soon or simply value the ability to cancel much more than the lowest headline price.
Maximum flexibilityVirgin's rolling broadband goes up to M500 and can be cancelled with 30 days' notice.
Should you add Virgin TV or phone?
Not automatically.
This page is deliberately comparing broadband-only deals because adding TV, phone or an O2 SIM changes both the monthly price and the product you are buying.
Virgin's bundles can sometimes provide excellent overall value, particularly when entertainment or sport is something you would pay for anyway.
But broadband does not become cheaper just because a larger bundle has a bigger headline discount.

What about Virgin Media Volt deals?
Volt combines eligible Virgin Media broadband with eligible O2 Pay Monthly service.
A major broadband benefit is a speed boost to the next available tier, up to 1Gbps.
This can completely change which deal you should buy.
For example, it can be pointless to pay extra for a faster broadband tier if an eligible Volt benefit would already move the lower package upwards.

Are these Virgin deals available to existing customers?
The headline broadband deals on Virgin's main offers page are advertised for new customers.
Existing customers are directed to their own personalised offers instead.
That does not mean an existing customer should ignore public pricing.
Use the new-customer market as a benchmark when deciding whether a renewal offer is competitive.

Which Virgin Media broadband deal should you choose?
Lowest monthly cost
You want a fast connection but see no reason to spend more simply for a larger number.

You want very high speed and the current £27.99 headline price is available at your address.

You regularly download huge files and the £2 increase from M500 is insignificant to you.

The most interesting part of Virgin's current pricing is how much speed it can offer around the £28–£30 mark.
That makes the comparison with BT and Sky more than a question of which provider has the lowest entry price.
You should also compare:
- Maximum speed at your postcode
- Upload speed
- Router and Wi-Fi hardware
- Whole-home Wi-Fi guarantees
- Annual price increases
- Setup costs
- Contract length
- Post-promotion pricing
- Customer service

Are Virgin Media broadband deals actually good value?
At the current prices, several of them are.
M125 is competitively priced if all you need is ordinary fast broadband.
M500 is particularly compelling because it currently undercuts M350.
Gig1 is arguably the most eye-catching deal because the price premium over M500 is only £2 per month.
Gig2 is different. Its £49.99 starting price means you are paying a meaningful premium for multi-gigabit performance.
The biggest caveat is future pricing.
Virgin's standard prices after promotional periods are substantially higher than today's introductory rates, and the £4 April increases apply during applicable newer contracts.
So the right question is not merely:
“Which Virgin package has the biggest discount?”
It is:
“Which package gives my household the performance it will actually use at a total cost I'm happy to pay?”
Our Virgin Media broadband deals verdict
M500 is our current value winner; Gig1 is the deal we'd watch most closely
The current Virgin price structure produces some unusually clear conclusions.
M125 at £23.99 is the obvious budget choice and is already fast enough for many households.
M250 at £25.99 is a sensible upgrade for families.
M350 at £28.99 is currently difficult to recommend because the faster M500 package costs less.
M500 at £27.99 is our value winner. More than 500Mbps for under £30 is an extremely strong proposition where that price is available.
Gig1 at £29.99 may be the most interesting offer of all. Paying £2 more than M500 to move above 1Gbps is unusually aggressive pricing, even if most households do not technically need the extra bandwidth.
Gig2 at £49.99 is for a different buyer. It makes sense when you specifically value multi-gigabit capacity rather than simply trying to maximise value.
Remember that postcode-specific prices can differ and that the current introductory charge is not the whole contract story.
Check the April price increases, standard price after the promotion and any Volt benefits before ordering.
Right now, we'd check M500 first, then look at Gig1 and ask whether another £2 per month is worth it to your household.
