EE TV sports packages are much easier to choose once you know which broadcaster you need

EE currently has three packages that make particular sense for sports fans: Sport, Big Sport and Full Works.

The difference is simpler than the package names suggest.

Sport is the TNT Sports option. Big Sport adds Sky Sports through NOW. Full Works gives you the same major sports proposition as Big Sport but adds EE's wider entertainment and Cinema bundle.

EE TV Sport: the TNT Sports package

Sport is the simplest package in this comparison because its purpose is very clear.

It is built around TNT Sports.

EE currently includes all of the main TNT Sports channels plus access to TNT Sports through HBO Max.

That gives Sport a very broad range of live rights even before Sky Sports enters the picture.

EE currently highlights football, rugby, MotoGP, UFC, golf, cricket, snooker, tennis and cycling among the sports available through TNT.

Who should choose Sport?

Sport is most attractive when the events you care about are already carried by TNT.

For example, somebody whose priorities are the UEFA Champions League, selected Premier League football, MotoGP, UFC or TNT's rugby coverage may have little reason to pay for the additional Sky Sports channels.

That makes Sport the natural starting point rather than automatically buying Big Sport because it has more channels.

The important limitation Sport does not include NOW Sports as standard. So while you get TNT's Premier League coverage, you do not automatically get Sky Sports' much larger Premier League schedule, Formula 1 channel or the rest of the Sky Sports portfolio.

EE Big Sport: where Sky Sports gets added

Big Sport is the package we expect many serious sports fans to end up choosing.

It contains everything from Sport and then adds NOW Sports with NOW Boost.

EE currently markets this as access to all 12 Sky Sports channels.

That dramatically expands what you can watch.

Instead of choosing between TNT and Sky Sports, you effectively have access to both major premium sports propositions through one EE TV package.

What does Sky Sports add?

Among the major additions are:

  • Much wider live Premier League coverage
  • Formula 1
  • English Football League
  • Test cricket and other major cricket
  • Golf majors
  • Sky Sports Racing
  • Sky Sports Tennis
  • NFL and other US sport
  • Additional rugby and live events

For somebody who follows several sports throughout the year, the jump from Sport to Big Sport can therefore be much more meaningful than simply adding a few extra channels.

Full Works isn't really a better sports package

This is an important distinction.

If your only concern is getting the strongest sports proposition, Big Sport already gives you the major combination of TNT Sports and Sky Sports.

Full Works is not primarily about giving the sports fan substantially more sport.

It is about adding the rest of EE's premium TV proposition.

EE currently lists Full Works with:

  • Everything in the sports proposition
  • NOW Entertainment & HBO Max
  • NOW Cinema
  • Sky entertainment channels
  • Netflix
  • Free-to-air television

So if one person wants Formula 1 and Premier League football while somebody else wants Sky Atlantic, films, Netflix and HBO Max, Full Works starts to make much more sense.

If everybody in the household only watches sport, Big Sport is the more logical comparison point.

Big Sport vs Full Works Don't upgrade to Full Works because you assume it is the “better sports package”. Upgrade because you genuinely value the additional entertainment, Cinema and streaming memberships it includes.

Which EE TV package is best for Premier League football?

This is one area where the difference between Sport and Big Sport is particularly important.

The Premier League's current UK broadcasting deal splits live matches between Sky Sports and TNT Sports.

For the 2026/27 Premier League season, TNT Sports has rights to 52 live matches.

Sky Sports has a minimum of 215 live Premier League matches.

That means:

Sport gives you TNT's 52-match Premier League allocation.

Big Sport gives you access to TNT Sports plus Sky Sports, dramatically increasing the number of Premier League matches available.

Full Works gives you the same broad sports combination as Big Sport, then adds entertainment and Cinema.

No UK package shows all 380 Premier League games live A large number of Saturday 3pm fixtures remain unavailable for live domestic television because of the UK's closed-period rules. Big Sport therefore gives you very extensive Premier League coverage, but not every match of the season.

Which EE package has the Champions League?

You do not need Big Sport just to watch the UEFA Champions League.

TNT Sports carries the Champions League in the UK, and TNT is already included with Sport.

That means Sport, Big Sport and Full Works all provide access to the relevant TNT Sports Champions League coverage.

The same principle applies to the Europa League and Conference League carried by TNT.

For a viewer whose football interest is overwhelmingly European competition rather than Sky's domestic football schedule, Sport could therefore be enough.

Which EE TV package has Formula 1?

If Formula 1 is important, Big Sport is the package to start with.

Formula 1 coverage is centred on Sky Sports F1, which is part of the Sky Sports proposition delivered through NOW Sports on EE.

Sport alone does not include the main Sky Sports package.

Big Sport does.

Full Works also includes the Sky Sports proposition, so F1 viewers choosing between those two packages should base the decision on whether they also want Full Works' entertainment and Cinema memberships.

Premier League

TNT has 52 live matches in 2026/27, while Sky Sports has at least 215.

Best choice: Big Sport

Champions League

TNT Sports carries the competition, so the basic Sport package already gets you into the right service.

Best choice: Sport

Formula 1

Sky Sports F1 is part of the NOW Sports proposition included with Big Sport and Full Works.

Best choice: Big Sport

EFL

Sky Sports carries extensive EFL coverage, making Big Sport the stronger option.

Best choice: Big Sport

Which EE package is best for rugby?

Rugby is more complicated because rights are divided between broadcasters and competitions.

TNT Sports carries major rugby competitions, including Premiership Rugby and European club rugby.

That means Sport can already be a very strong package for a rugby supporter.

Sky Sports also carries rugby content, so Big Sport broadens the total selection further.

The correct choice depends on the specific competitions you follow rather than simply assuming that more channels always means better value.

Cricket, golf, MotoGP, UFC, tennis and more

The difference between the two sports services becomes particularly clear when you look beyond football.

MotoGP and UFC

TNT Sports is the key part of the equation, so Sport can be sufficient for viewers primarily interested in those competitions.

Cricket

Both TNT and Sky can carry cricket, but Sky Sports has a much larger established UK cricket proposition including major international coverage.

For a serious cricket household, Big Sport is normally the safer choice.

Golf

EE itself highlights golf on both the TNT and Sky propositions.

Sky Sports Golf and Sky's coverage of major tournaments substantially increase what is available through Big Sport.

Tennis

Tennis rights are spread across broadcasters, with Sky Sports Tennis contributing significantly to the wider schedule.

Again, Big Sport is more comprehensive where you follow the sport throughout the season.

Are EE sports packages in HD and 4K?

EE currently says that its sports packages come with HD at no additional cost.

EE's current Sport package information also lists TNT Sports HD channels and TNT Sports Ultimate in 4K UHD.

Big Sport inherits the TNT Sports content from Sport and adds NOW Sports with NOW Boost.

Full Works also includes TNT Sports HD channels, TNT Sports Ultimate in 4K UHD and NOW Sports with NOW Boost.

That does not mean every match or sporting event is available in 4K.

Availability depends on the event, broadcaster, compatible EE TV hardware, television and connection.

Both EE TV Box Pro and Box Edge support modern 4K HDR output, but the source content still needs to be available in the appropriate format.

EE's best sports feature may actually be Flex

Sports viewing is unusually seasonal.

Football fans may watch heavily from late summer into spring. Formula 1 has its own calendar. Rugby, cricket, golf and tennis all peak at different times.

That makes EE's flexible package system particularly relevant to sports subscribers.

How EE TV package changes currently work

Upgrade EE says you can upgrade during your contract except during the final three months. Changes normally take up to 24 hours.
Downgrade You can generally downgrade once every 30 days, except during the first month and final three months of the contract.
TV Extras Optional Extras can be added and removed separately, giving another way to temporarily add content.

Could you use Sport for part of the year and Big Sport for another?

Potentially, yes.

This is exactly the kind of use case EE's Flex system is designed around.

A customer could decide that TNT Sports provides enough content during one period, move to Big Sport when Sky Sports becomes particularly important, then move back later, subject to the current package-change rules.

EE itself promotes the idea of changing packages as viewing habits change.

But don't treat it like a daily cancellation service

Flexibility does not mean there are no restrictions.

Downgrades are currently limited to once every 30 days, and the first and final parts of the contract have additional restrictions.

Some changes involving linked EE services can also affect contractual arrangements.

So use Flex strategically rather than expecting to switch packages every weekend.

Which EE sports package is best value?

The answer depends less on the number of channels and more on which rights you actually use.

Sport offers the best value when TNT covers your priorities

If you mainly want Champions League football, TNT's Premier League allocation, MotoGP, UFC and its rugby coverage, buying a package that also contains Sky Sports may be unnecessary.

Big Sport is the strongest pure-sports package

For a household that follows Premier League football, Formula 1, EFL, cricket, golf and TNT's competitions, Big Sport is the most obvious all-round sports choice.

It combines the two major premium sports services rather than forcing you to choose between them.

Full Works is best when sport is only part of the household's viewing

A family may have one person following football and Formula 1 while other people watch Sky Atlantic, HBO Max, Netflix and films.

In that situation Full Works can make more sense than stacking several separate memberships onto Big Sport.

But it should be evaluated as an all-in-one entertainment bundle, not simply as a more expensive version of Big Sport.

Champions League fan

Your main priority is UEFA club football on TNT Sports.

Start with Sport

Premier League fan

You want as many televised Premier League fixtures as possible through TNT and Sky.

Choose Big Sport

Formula 1 fan

Sky Sports F1 is essential to your viewing.

Choose Big Sport

MotoGP or UFC fan

TNT Sports is the important broadcaster for you.

Consider Sport

Football + films household

You want both major sports services but somebody also watches Cinema and premium entertainment.

Consider Full Works

Seasonal sports viewer

Your viewing changes substantially throughout the year.

Use EE Flex

Do you need Big Sport to get Sky Sports on EE?

No, because EE also allows NOW Sports to be added as a TV Extra to eligible packages.

But Big Sport is the package specifically designed around having TNT Sports and NOW Sports together.

That can be much easier to understand and manage than starting with another package and rebuilding the sports proposition through several Extras.

Can you get TNT Sports with Entertainment?

Yes, as an Extra.

EE's Entertainment and Big Entertainment packages do not include the TNT Sports subscription as part of their standard entertainment content, but TNT Sports can be added separately.

Likewise, NOW Sports can be added to packages where it is not already included.

This is another reason not to treat the five package names as completely rigid bundles.

EE Big Sport vs Sky Sports directly

Big Sport is particularly interesting because you are not receiving a completely different collection of sports channels from Sky.

You are receiving Sky Sports through NOW Sports, alongside TNT Sports within the EE proposition.

That makes the comparison with buying Sky directly more about the wider platform than simply the names of the sports channels.

With EE you need to consider EE Broadband, the EE TV boxes and the ability to flex packages.

With Sky Stream, Sky Sports sits natively inside Sky's own television platform and you have more freedom over which broadband provider supplies your internet connection.

See our EE TV vs Sky Stream comparison for that decision in detail.

Which EE TV box is best for sports?

Both Box Pro and Box Edge can handle the streaming side of EE's sports proposition.

The question is whether you want to record sport.

Box Pro has a 1TB hard drive and can make conventional live-TV recordings.

Box Edge cannot.

For a sports fan, we think that makes Box Pro particularly interesting.

Live sport is one of the areas where recording remains genuinely useful. A race, match or fight can happen while you are working, travelling or asleep, and a conventional recording gives you another way to watch later.

EE TV Sport vs Big Sport vs Full Works: our verdict

Big Sport is our pick for the serious sports fan, but many people should actually buy Sport

It is tempting to automatically choose the biggest sports bundle, but that is not how we would approach EE TV.

Sport is already a substantial package.

If the events you care about are carried by TNT Sports — particularly the Champions League, TNT's Premier League fixtures, MotoGP, UFC and its rugby coverage — Sport may contain virtually everything you need.

Big Sport is where the proposition becomes much more comprehensive.

Adding NOW Sports brings in all 12 Sky Sports channels and therefore the much larger Sky Premier League allocation, Formula 1, EFL, cricket, golf and the rest of Sky's sports portfolio.

For somebody who genuinely thinks of themselves as a broad sports fan rather than a follower of one competition, Big Sport is our strongest pure-sports choice.

Full Works is different.

It doesn't win because it suddenly unlocks vastly more sport than Big Sport. It wins when your household also wants premium entertainment, HBO Max, Sky Cinema and Netflix.

And EE's Flex system means the decision does not necessarily need to remain fixed throughout the entire contract.

Our simple rule: Sport for TNT. Big Sport for TNT + Sky Sports. Full Works when the rest of the household wants premium TV and films as well.
