Which Vodafone Broadband speed should you choose?

Enough for streaming, video calls, normal gaming, browsing and a typical collection of connected household devices.
A household does not need 500Mbps simply because it is available.

A substantial amount of shared capacity for several people streaming, gaming, working and downloading simultaneously.
For many larger homes, this is where the speed-versus-need calculation makes the most sense.

Vodafone does not rely on a single Full Fibre wholesale network.
It can sell services over infrastructure including Openreach, CityFibre and other eligible networks.
Vodafone's current substantiation says its Full Fibre products were available to approximately 25.09 million premises as of 1 August 2026.
That is a major strength because it gives Vodafone an unusually large addressable Full Fibre footprint.
Openreach areas
Vodafone can use Openreach FTTP in many areas.
The download speed can still be extremely fast, but upload speeds on some tiers are asymmetric.
Vodafone currently gives examples of 27Mbps upload on Full Fibre 150 and 68Mbps upload on Full Fibre 500 over Openreach.
CityFibre / symmetrical areas
On CityFibre and some other networks, Vodafone can offer symmetrical services where the upload rate matches the download rate.
That can turn the exact same broadband brand into a much stronger proposition for heavy cloud and professional use.
Vodafone upload speeds: potentially one of its biggest advantages
For normal browsing and television streaming, upload speed rarely attracts much attention.
For certain users, it matters enormously.
Fast uploads help with:
- Cloud backups
- Uploading large video projects
- Remote photography workflows
- Large business files
- Hosting or synchronising substantial datasets
- Multiple simultaneous video calls
Vodafone's symmetrical Full Fibre proposition can therefore be substantially more valuable than a package whose marketing focuses only on download speed.
Vodafone Broadband vs Vodafone Pro 3
Pro 3 is not simply a faster Vodafone broadband package.
It is a premium connectivity package built around different Wi-Fi hardware and additional resilience features.

Pro 3 is the version of Vodafone Broadband worth investigating rather than simply buying a faster standard tier.
Vodafone Power Hub vs Ultra Hub 7
Vodafone now has a meaningful hardware split between its standard and premium broadband.
Power Hub
The standard Power Hub uses Wi-Fi 6 and is designed for Vodafone's broadband packages up to 910Mbps.
Vodafone says it can manage more than 100 connected smart devices and uses Intelligent WiFi to optimise wireless connections around the home.
Wi-Fi 6 is still entirely appropriate for the vast majority of current phones, laptops, televisions, consoles and smart-home hardware.
Ultra Hub 7
Pro 3 brings Vodafone's newer Ultra Hub 7 and Wi-Fi 7.
Wi-Fi 7 offers a newer generation of wireless technology with greater potential capacity and efficiency for compatible devices.
But you need Wi-Fi 7-capable client hardware to exploit those features fully.
How good is Vodafone Super WiFi?
Super WiFi is Vodafone's whole-home mesh proposition.
With qualifying Pro broadband, one Booster is supplied initially.
If you cannot receive Wi-Fi signal and at least 10Mbps throughput in each room, Vodafone can provide up to three Boosters in total under the current guarantee process.
If coverage still cannot be resolved after the third Booster and Vodafone's troubleshooting process, qualifying customers can leave without an early termination fee if they notify Vodafone within the specified period.
On standard Vodafone Broadband, Super WiFi is currently available as a £7-per-month add-on.
Vodafone Pro 3's 4G Broadband Back-up
This is one of the best reasons to consider Pro 3 if broadband uptime matters.
The backup service is designed to move the home connection onto Vodafone's 4G mobile network when the fixed broadband line goes down.
Once the fixed service recovers, normal broadband can resume.
This will not reproduce a 2.2Gbps fibre connection over 4G.
The purpose is continuity rather than matching the main line's performance.
Particularly useful for...
- Home workers
- Small-business owners
- Families relying heavily on connected services
- Homes where an outage causes real disruption
Less important when...
- You are happy tethering to a mobile phone
- Broadband downtime causes little inconvenience
- Vodafone mobile coverage is weak at the property

Secure Net Home
Vodafone includes Secure Net Home with Pro broadband.
The current service provides security and parental-control features for up to 128 connected devices and is managed through Vodafone's security applications.
Standard broadband currently receives a three-month trial before the service becomes an optional paid add-on.
As with every bundled security product, its theoretical retail value only matters if you would actually use it.
Is Vodafone Broadband good for gaming?
Yes, on paper it has all the speed a gamer could realistically need.
Even Vodafone's 150Mbps tier provides far more bandwidth than online gameplay itself normally requires.
The faster tiers mainly improve:
- Game downloads
- Huge updates
- Downloading while other household members use the connection heavily
Actual online gameplay depends more on latency, jitter, packet loss and connection stability than whether the package says 500Mbps or 2.2Gbps.
For a desktop gaming PC, wired Ethernet remains worth considering where practical.
Vodafone Broadband for working from home
Standard Vodafone Full Fibre is already more than sufficient for ordinary remote work.
Emails, Teams, Zoom, cloud documents and browser-based software require relatively little bandwidth.
Pro 3 becomes more compelling for a different reason: resilience.
The automatic 4G backup can be much more valuable to a home worker than another 1Gbps of theoretical fixed-line capacity.
And symmetrical Vodafone connections can be particularly strong for professional users moving enormous files to cloud systems.

Vodafone Together provides discounts when eligible mobile and broadband plans are held together.
That means Vodafone is particularly worth checking if the household already uses Vodafone Pay Monthly mobile services.
The current Together proposition can reduce the broadband price and discount additional eligible mobile plans.
For example, Vodafone is currently advertising eligible Full Fibre broadband from £22 through Together rather than the ordinary £24 headline starting price.
Check Vodafone Together pricing before taking broadband as a standalone customer.
How much does Vodafone Broadband cost?
We are deliberately not building this review around a giant live promotional-price table.

At the time of this review, Vodafone's headline comparison starts at approximately:

All of those figures depend on the speed, address, current promotion and eligibility.
The sensible pricing questions are:
- Which speed does Vodafone offer at your address?
- Is the connection Openreach, CityFibre or another network?
- What upload speed are you actually promised?
- Is Pro 3 worth its premium?
- Does Vodafone Together reduce your cost?
- Will April 2027 and April 2028 price increases occur during the minimum term?
- What price applies after the 24-month discount ends?
Vodafone Broadband annual price increases
Vodafone currently uses a fixed annual increase rather than an inflation-linked increase for the core broadband plan.
The broadband monthly plan charge increases by £3.50 every 1 April.
So a new contract beginning in August 2026 can encounter:
- A £3.50 increase on 1 April 2027
- A further £3.50 increase on 1 April 2028
before a 24-month agreement started today necessarily finishes.
Vodafone also states that some out-of-bundle and optional charges can increase separately according to their published price-change rules.
Switching to Vodafone Broadband
Vodafone participates in the modern provider-switching process and says it can handle contacting the previous provider where the switching route supports it.
It also currently offers eligible switchers up to £200 account credit towards early termination fees charged by their previous broadband provider.
That can be useful if a genuinely better Vodafone deal appears before the existing minimum term ends.
Check Vodafone's current switching-credit terms before assuming an early termination fee makes switching impossible.
Does Vodafone Broadband include a landline?
A landline is optional on Vodafone's current broadband proposition.
That is useful because many households no longer want to pay for traditional voice services merely to obtain broadband.
Customers who still use a home phone can select an appropriate option during ordering.
What is Vodafone Xtra?
Vodafone Xtra is an optional bundle available alongside broadband.
Its current proposition includes an Apple TV 4K device, three months of Apple TV+ for new eligible Apple TV+ users and Anytime UK landline and mobile calls.
Xtra should therefore be treated as an entertainment/calling add-on rather than a fundamental improvement to the broadband connection.
What is Vodafone Broadband customer service like?
The recent regulatory picture is mixed enough that it deserves context.
Ofcom's Q3 2025 complaints publication named Vodafone alongside EE and TalkTalk as generating the most broadband complaints during that quarter.
However, the latest Q1 2026 publication looks better for the industry overall.
Ofcom said broadband complaints across major providers had fallen to their lowest level since its records began, and it identified TalkTalk as the most complained-about broadband provider in that quarter rather than Vodafone.
That does not prove every Vodafone support experience has improved.
Nor does older complaints data prove a new customer will have problems.
Broadband Xperts
Vodafone's standard service includes access to Broadband Xperts for technical problems.
Pro 3 adds call prioritisation and proactive monitoring during the first 90 days.
Vodafone currently lists Broadband Xpert telephone support between 8am and 8pm Monday to Sunday, including public holidays.
Is Vodafone Broadband reliable?
There is no useful national answer that guarantees the performance of one individual property.
A Full Fibre connection on a well-performing local network can be extremely reliable, while Wi-Fi inside the home depends on property layout and hardware placement.
Vodafone's strongest reliability arguments are:
- Large Full Fibre footprint
- Full Fibre technology where available
- Super WiFi mesh coverage
- Whole-home Wi-Fi guarantee on qualifying Pro service
- Automatic 4G backup on Pro 3
Those extras are more meaningful than simply using “reliable” as a marketing adjective.
Vodafone Broadband vs BT, Sky and Virgin Media

Vodafone is now one of the more interesting broadband providers in the UK — particularly when Full Fibre, Pro 3 or symmetrical service is available
Vodafone Broadband is easy to underestimate.
At the standard end, it offers a straightforward proposition: modern Wi-Fi 6 hardware, Full Fibre packages up to 910Mbps and pricing that is often positioned aggressively against the major providers.
For a normal household, that is probably all that matters.
150Mbps is enough for a huge amount of everyday internet use.
500Mbps provides enormous headroom for a busy family.
910Mbps makes huge downloads very fast without requiring a premium multi-gigabit package.
Then Pro 3 changes the proposition.
Wi-Fi 7, the Ultra Hub 7, Super WiFi 7 Booster, whole-home Wi-Fi guarantee, automatic 4G backup, Secure Net Home and enhanced support turn it into something closer to a managed home-connectivity package than a simple speed upgrade.
The 1.8Gbps and 2.2Gbps tiers will be unnecessary for most people, but their existence gives Vodafone a legitimate multi-gigabit product for enthusiasts and extremely demanding homes.
More important is Vodafone's network variation.
On some Full Fibre infrastructure you can get symmetrical download and upload speeds.
On Openreach-based tiers, upload speeds can be much lower than downloads.
That is why we would never recommend buying Vodafone purely from the package name.
Run the postcode check and inspect the promised download and upload speeds.
Vodafone Together can also improve the commercial proposition for households already using Vodafone mobile service.
The downsides are mostly about making sure you do not overbuy.
Pro 3 costs more.
Wi-Fi 7 only fully benefits compatible devices.
2.2Gbps is excessive for ordinary streaming and gaming.
And a 24-month contract can contain two £3.50 annual price increases.
Customer service also deserves monitoring. Vodafone's broadband complaints performance was weak in parts of 2025, although Ofcom's latest Q1 2026 publication no longer identifies Vodafone as the most complained-about provider and industry complaint levels have fallen substantially.
Our conclusion: Vodafone is a strong shortlist provider in 2026. Standard Full Fibre is probably the better-value choice for most households; Pro 3 becomes compelling when you genuinely value Wi-Fi 7, whole-home coverage, automatic 4G backup or multi-gigabit/symmetrical performance.
