What is the main difference?
The Power Hub is Vodafone’s mainstream Wi-Fi 6 router.
It accompanies standard Vodafone Broadband, including Full Fibre packages reaching up to 910Mbps.
The Ultra Hub 7 is Vodafone’s premium Wi-Fi 7 router.
It comes with Pro 3, which is restricted to Full Fibre and can reach 2.2Gbps in eligible locations.
Newer Wi-Fi
Ultra Hub 7 moves from Wi-Fi 6 to Wi-Fi 7 and introduces compatible Multi-Link Operation.

Wi-Fi 7 is the Ultra Hub 7’s headline advantage.
Vodafone’s technical documentation identifies several improvements over Wi-Fi 6:

- Lower latency under suitable conditions
- 4096-QAM instead of Wi-Fi 6’s 1024-QAM

Multi-Link Operation allows compatible Wi-Fi 7 equipment to communicate using more than one wireless link.
Vodafone says the Ultra Hub 7 can aggregate its 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, potentially increasing throughput and reliability while reducing latency.
Does the Ultra Hub 7 use the 6GHz band?
This is an important distinction because shoppers can understandably assume that every Wi-Fi 7 router is tri-band.
Wi-Fi 7 can operate across 2.4GHz and 5GHz as well as 6GHz where the router supports it.
The Ultra Hub 7 therefore remains a genuine Wi-Fi 7 router, but it does not provide a separate 6GHz band.

Which router supports the fastest Vodafone broadband?
The Power Hub supports Vodafone’s standard packages, currently reaching up to 910Mbps.
The Ultra Hub 7 supports Pro 3 packages reaching:

- Up to 2.2Gbps on the fastest eligible service
The exact speeds and upload rates available depend on the Full Fibre network serving your address.
Some Vodafone locations can receive symmetrical download and upload speeds, while other connections have substantially lower upload rates.
Check whether Pro 3 and speeds above 1Gbps are available at your address.
Ethernet and wired performance
The Ultra Hub 7 has the clearest advantage for advanced wired networks.

The exact incoming connection and port arrangement used can depend on the Full Fibre network and installation at your property.
The Power Hub provides Gigabit-class connectivity appropriate for standard Vodafone service reaching no more than 910Mbps.
To obtain more than 1Gbps on one wired device, every relevant part of the connection must support it:
- The Vodafone broadband package
- The router port
- The Ethernet cable
- Any network switch
- The receiving computer or device
- The server supplying the data
Coverage and mesh Wi-Fi
A newer router does not automatically guarantee perfect coverage throughout every property.
Wireless performance remains affected by:
- Router position
- Wall construction
- Distance and number of floors
- Neighbouring Wi-Fi networks
- Large appliances and reflective materials
- The antenna capabilities of the connected device
The strongest coverage advantage comes from the complete Pro 3 package.
Vodafone initially supplies a Super WiFi 7 Booster with Pro 3. Additional Boosters can be provided through its qualifying whole-home Wi-Fi guarantee process, with up to three Boosters in total.
Standard customers can add Super WiFi separately. Vodafone’s current public comparison prices this at £7 per month.

Does the Ultra Hub 7 include 4G backup?
The Ultra Hub 7 does not provide mobile backup without the accompanying Pro 3 equipment and service.
Vodafone supplies a separate 4G Broadband Back-up dongle with Pro 3. It is designed to activate when the fixed broadband connection suffers a total loss of service.
The current backup allowance is 100GB.
Vodafone says its Broadband Xperts may add more data when required during a genuine fixed-line outage.

Secure Net Home provides network-level protection and parental-control features across up to 128 connected devices.
These are service and package differences. They do not prove that the physical Ultra Hub 7 is automatically more secure than the Power Hub.
Which router is better for gaming?
The Ultra Hub 7 is technically stronger for wireless gaming, especially when paired with compatible Wi-Fi 7 equipment in a congested home.
Multi-Link Operation can improve local throughput, reliability and latency under suitable conditions.
However, moving from 910Mbps to 2.2Gbps will not automatically reduce your gaming latency.
Online gaming is also affected by:
- The route to the game server
- Network congestion
- Jitter
- Packet loss
- Local interference
- Whether the gaming device is wired
The largest advantage of a multi-gigabit service may be downloading enormous games and updates more quickly.
Which router is better for working from home?
Normal video calls, cloud documents and email do not require Wi-Fi 7.
The Power Hub should comfortably support ordinary home working when its Wi-Fi coverage is reliable.
Pro 3 and the Ultra Hub 7 become more compelling when:

Ultra Hub 7 wins for technology; Power Hub wins for mainstream value
The Ultra Hub 7 is the stronger router.
It provides Wi-Fi 7, stronger wireless specifications, twice the RAM, substantially more flash storage, Multi-Link Operation and 2.5Gbps wired connectivity.
It is also the appropriate Vodafone router for 1.8Gbps and 2.2Gbps broadband.
But the Power Hub remains the more sensible choice for many households.
Wi-Fi 6 is still capable technology. A household using 150Mbps or 500Mbps broadband with mostly Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 devices may notice little practical improvement after moving to Wi-Fi 7.
The deciding factor should be whether you value the complete Pro 3 package.
If you want mesh coverage, automatic 4G backup, enhanced support, bundled security and multi-gigabit service, the Ultra Hub 7 makes sense.
If your current connection is reliable and you simply want good broadband at a competitive price, the Power Hub should be sufficient.
